Hello! How are you doing today? I had actually anticipated that the monthly round-up would be quieter over summer, but that’s definitely not the case in this issue. There are sixteen opportunities closing on 31st July and a dozen more besides. I hope you find something wonderful among them, and check out the ever-growing list of ongoing funding and grants. Enjoy the rest of your weekend.

"A career-changing book... if you're thinking about going freelance, read this first," says GQ’s Oliver Franklin-Wallis.

My book The Pyjama Myth: the Freelance Writer's Survival Guide will make you a better, happier freelancer and you can order your copy from Bookshop.

Closing before the end of July (last day to apply after the link):

  • Playwrights, you’ve got until 9am tomorrow to apply for the Jerwood/Pentabus writer-in-residence bursary. (22nd)

  • The Be Inclusive Hospitality Awards includes a writer category that some of you would be perfect for. Just make sure you enter before midnight tomorrow. (22nd)

  • You’ve got a couple more days to apply for Trans+ on Screen’s new script development programme – The DarkRoom – aimed at Trans+ and/or Queer Global Majority writers. (24th)

  • New Writing North is taking on new creative writing associates for six months. (28th)

  • In partnership with Tyneside Cinema, NWN is also looking for a screenwriter-in-residence. (28th)

  • Creatives in County Durham, you’ve got a little more time to apply for the Cultivate Commissions. (29th)
